Lang Tengah Island

Getting to Lang Tengah

Your guide to reaching this exclusive hidden gem—with transfers typically arranged through your resort package.

Merang Jetty
45 min journey
March - October

Getting to Lang Tengah Island follows the same pattern as nearby Redang—you'll depart from Merang Jetty with transfers typically included in your resort package. The small number of resorts means boats are coordinated with bookings rather than running on public schedules. New to the island? Start with our complete Lang Tengah guide.

Merang Jetty: Your Starting Point

All boats to Lang Tengah depart from Merang Jetty (Shahbandar Jetty), located about 30-45 minutes north of Kuala Terengganu. This is the same jetty used for Redang Island transfers.

When you arrive, look for your resort's representative. Because Lang Tengah has fewer visitors, the process is more personal than larger island destinations. Your resort will have already coordinated your boat timing.

Coordinated Transfers

Unlike busier islands with frequent public boats, Lang Tengah transfers are coordinated with resort bookings. Your resort will confirm your exact departure time when you book.

The Boat Journey

The speedboat crossing takes approximately 45 minutes. Because there are fewer passengers, the journey often feels more personal than crowded ferry services to larger islands. Life jackets are provided and mandatory.

The approach to Lang Tengah is beautiful—watching this small, crescent-shaped island emerge from the sea, knowing you're heading somewhere truly exclusive.

Weather & Safety

Monsoon Season: November - February

Lang Tengah closes completely during monsoon season. All resorts shut down and boats do not operate. Plan your visit for March-October only.

During the open season, weather disruptions are uncommon but possible. If conditions are unsafe, your resort will coordinate alternatives and keep you informed.

Tips for a Smooth Journey

Confirm with Resort

Before traveling, confirm your jetty location and departure time directly with your resort. They coordinate the boats.

Bring Enough Cash

Lang Tengah has very limited facilities. While packages cover most costs, bring cash for extras and emergencies.

Arrive Early

Get to the jetty 30-45 minutes before departure for check-in, marine park fee payment, and boarding.

Embrace the Pace

The less frequent boat schedule is part of Lang Tengah's charm. You're heading somewhere exclusive—enjoy the unhurried journey.
